Atlanta judge’s arrest caught on bodycam after alleged assault on police officer during nightclub altercation. WATCH

Atlanta police have released body camera footage of the arrest of Douglas County Probate Judge Christina Peterson, who allegedly struck an officer outside a nightclub on Thursday. The incident occurred around 3:18 a.m. when an off-duty Atlanta police officer, working an approved extra job at the Red Martini Restaurant and Lounge, heard a commotion and went to investigate.

According to police, the officer found security escorting a woman out of the venue and tried to de-escalate the situation. Peterson, 38, then “rushed toward the commotion and immediately started screaming at the security guard and the officer,” police said. Body camera footage shows Peterson pushing the officer in the chest and yelling, “Let her f—ing go.”

Peterson has been charged with willful obstruction of law enforcement officers by use of threats or violence and simple battery against a police officer. She has since been released on a $5,000 bond. Peterson has claimed on social media that the incident was a “setup” and that she was “trying to help a woman who was being attacked by men” when she accidentally hit the officer.
