Second gentleman Doug Emhoff tests positive for COVID-19, Vice President Kamala Harris tests negative

Second Gentleman Doug Emhoff, the husband of Vice President Kamala Harris, has tested positive for COVID-19, according to a statement released by his office on Sunday. Emhoff, who is fully vaccinated and has received three booster shots, is currently experiencing mild symptoms and is isolating at home.

The statement from Emhoff’s office confirmed that he tested positive for the virus on Saturday and is now working remotely while taking precautions to prevent the spread of the virus to others. Vice President Kamala Harris, out of an abundance of caution, was also tested for COVID-19 and has tested negative. She remains asymptomatic and will continue to be tested regularly.

This news comes just days after the couple celebrated the Fourth of July at the White House with President Joe Biden and First Lady Jill Biden. It serves as a reminder of the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic and the importance of taking necessary precautions, even for high-profile individuals who have been vaccinated.

Emhoff’s positive diagnosis is not his first encounter with the virus, as he previously tested positive for COVID-19 in March 2022. The Vice President also tested positive for the virus in April 2022. The White House has emphasized that it is following all CDC recommendations and protocols to ensure the health and safety of the Vice President, Second Gentleman, and their staff.
