Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo have a net worth of just under £1billion, but their wealth does not lay a glove on the world’s richest footballer.

The two legends transcend football and continue to make headlines, despite the fact they both left Europe to compete at Inter Miami in the MLS and Al-Nassr in the Saudi Pro League respectively. Messi, 37, is understood to have a net worth of around £471.5m, while Ronaldo’s wealth is believed to be around £500m.

While the two players have set their family up for many generations, one current player, who could not get a kick for Leicester City and Chelsea boasts a net worth of around £15.7bn. Daily Star Sport introduces you to Faiq Bolkiah.

Only those with a propensity for finding out obscure answers on a pub quiz would be familiar with Bolkiah. The Los Angeles born 25-year-old is a nephew of the Sultan of Brunei and one of several heirs to a mind-boggling £200billion fortune.

His personal net worth is believed to be around £15.7bn, which trumps the combined value of Messi and Ronaldo around 16 times over. Not bad for a player who did not make one senior appearance for either Leicester or Chelsea between 2014 and 2020.

Bolkiah currently plays in Thailand for Ratchaburi FC. He is enjoying a productive season in South East Asia, contributing two goals in ten appearances. While he never made the grade at Chelsea, he did manage to play alongside the likes of Ruben Loftus-Cheek and Tammy Abraham in the youth teams.

Another former team-mate Ruben Sammut also told the Athletic that the Chelsea academy stars used to remind Bolkiah of his wealth every day. “You would never ever have thought he was something like the 12th in line to the throne. You would not have thought of him as royalty.
