200,000 visas at risk: Trump plans largest mass visa revocation in US history targeting asylum seekers

The Trump administration has announced plans to revoke the non-immigrant visas of foreigners who applied for asylum after entering the United States on business or tourism visas — a move that could affect as many as 200,000 people and represent the largest single mass visa revocation in American history.

Vanguard reports that a State Department spokesperson said the department was coordinating with the Department of Homeland Security to identify and revoke B1 and B2 visas issued between 2016 and 2026 to holders who subsequently filed for asylum.

The planned revocations would not automatically trigger immediate deportation but would strip affected individuals of their visitor status while asylum cases remain pending.
