2027 elections: I’d rather back Tinubu than Atiku – Babachir Lawal
Former Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Babachir Lawal, has said he would rather support President Bola Tinubu than former Vice-President Atiku Abubakar ahead of the 2027 presidential election, The Nigerian Voice reports. Speaking on the Naija Unfiltered Podcast, Lawal voiced concern about what could happen to Nigeria under an Atiku presidency.
“I’d rather go with Bola than Atiku because when Nigeria crashes with Bola, it might be an orderly crash, but with Atiku, it would be a chaotic one,” Lawal said. He described Atiku as “not a good man” based on his personal experience of working with him, accusing him of giving instructions and reversing them after consulting others.
Lawal said he had initially wanted to support Atiku because of the hardship facing people in northern Nigeria. “Everything you do with him, there’s chaos,” he stated. Lawal recently joined the Nigeria Democratic Congress after resigning from the African Democratic Congress following Atiku’s emergence as the party’s presidential candidate.
