2027: I’m praying for God’s protection, I’m not sure I’ll be alive… – Peter Obi

Presidential candidate of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), Peter Obi, has expressed concern about his safety ahead of the 2027 general elections, saying he is uncertain he will still be alive by the time Nigerians vote.

According to Daily Post, Obi made the statement during an interview on Arise TV on Thursday, where he disclosed that he had been petitioned and investigated in different places.

“As I speak to you, I have also been petitioned, I’ve been investigated everywhere. Like I said before, I’m not even sure whether I’ll still be alive at the end of this,” he said. Obi said he was relying on God for protection and urged politicians to ensure a peaceful electoral environment.

He also appealed to governors to allow presidential candidates and other aspirants to campaign freely, regardless of political affiliation. Recalling his tenure as Anambra governor, Obi said he permitted opposition politicians to campaign in the state, including those supporting his opponents.
