2027: It’s not yet Igbo turn for Presidency, says Umahi

Minister of Works, David Umahi, has said the South-East will eventually produce Nigeria’s president, but that the time has not yet come, P.M. News reported.

Speaking on Thursday in Benin City at the “Operation Rescue Benin-Asaba Road” event, Umahi defended his support for President Bola Tinubu ahead of the 2027 elections. “We will one day become president but it is not yet our turn, it is the turn of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu,” he said.

Responding to comparisons with Nigeria Democratic Congress candidate Peter Obi, Umahi said assessments should consider background, intellectual capacity, records of service and contributions to the South-East. He also said the Federal Government would redesign the 136-kilometre Benin-Asaba road.
