2027: Tinubu opts out of APC campaign tours, says ‘I won’t go everywhere with you’
President Bola Tinubu has told members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Presidential Campaign Council that he will not accompany them to every campaign event ahead of the 2027 elections.
According to Vanguard, Tinubu disclosed this on Wednesday during the council’s inauguration in Abuja, stressing that governance must remain his priority.
“You’ve warned me not to allow the rigour of the campaign to distract me from governance, I hear you. I am in full agreement with your decision. Nigeria needs more attention now,” he said.
The president explained that his administration must address financial obligations while attracting investors to strengthen Nigeria’s economy.
“So, you will excuse me from going everywhere with you, we have bills to pay. The American creditors cannot wait,” Tinubu stated.
He nevertheless promised to engage Nigerians directly while campaign council members mobilise voters nationwide.
Tinubu urged the council to communicate his administration’s achievements, policies and agenda across the country.
