2027: Wike to reveal reasons APC governors oppose Rainbow Coalition

FCT Minister Nyesom Wike says his immediate political priority is President Bola Tinubu’s re-election in 2027, dismissing suggestions that his Rainbow Coalition is designed around the 2031 presidential race.

According to The Nation, Wike said Monday that he would disclose what he described as the “undertones” behind opposition to the coalition during a television appearance.

He maintained that the initiative was intended to mobilise APC members and like-minded Nigerians outside the ruling party to support Tinubu.

Wike compared the coalition with the G5 governors’ support for Tinubu during the 2023 presidential election, arguing that such mobilisation did not destabilise the APC.

He also dismissed speculation about 2031, describing such political calculations as premature for now.
