27 killed in Zimbabwe church bus crash

At least 27 people have died after a minibus carrying churchgoers collided head-on with a truck in central Zimbabwe, according to a report by Vanguard.

Police said the crash occurred near Chivhu, about 140 kilometres south of Harare, on Friday evening when a foreign-registered haulage truck overtaking another vehicle struck the minibus, which was transporting worshippers to a conference.

Seven people were injured. The tragedy adds to a string of fatal road accidents in Zimbabwe, where poor infrastructure and overloaded minibus taxis, known as kombis, remain persistent safety concerns.
