60-year-old killed after thugs opened fire on Adeleke-Davido convoy at Ataoja’s palace in Osogbo – Police
A 60-year-old man, Tajudeen Yusuf, has been shot dead in Osogbo after suspected hoodlums opened fire on the convoy of Governor Ademola Adeleke and his nephew Davido during a royal palace visit on Wednesday, with police revealing the violence was triggered when an ex-convict attempted to gain access to the Afrobeats star.
As reported by TheCable, the governor visited the Ataoja of Osogbo, Oba Jimoh Olanipekun, to present his certificate of return following his August 15 election victory. Shortly after, police say one Adebayo Taoreed — alias “Small Rugged,” described as a notorious ex-convict and Eye confraternity member — attempted to reach Davido but was blocked by security personnel.
Gunfire subsequently erupted at the Itaolokan area of Osogbo, lasting 12 to 15 minutes. Yusuf, of Oke-Ayepe area, was shot and killed. A full-scale police investigation has been launched.
