How former Gov. Sylva allegedly raised money for bankrolling coup
Investigators say former Bayelsa governor Timipre Sylva funded last year’s failed coup against President Tinubu through Purple Waves Limited, an Abuja firm linked to his associates. The company received over N8.2 billion via an alleged NDDC contract and SunTrust Bank loans, later disbursing N785 million to coup leader Mohammed Ma’aji through BDC operators, per investigative files.
