FG directs prosecution of anyone who assaults health workers
The federal government has ordered immediate measures to protect health workers nationwide, warning that offenders will be prosecuted, according to TheCable.
The directive followed a ministerial committee report triggered by a May 19 EFCC-related incident at the University of Uyo Teaching Hospital that disrupted services and sparked industrial action. The committee found 18 similar cases of assault or harassment across federal hospitals in the past year.
Health Minister Muhammad Ali Pate accepted recommendations including stronger security, violence prevention teams, and prompt prosecution of offenders under Nigerian law.
