Kemi Badenoch’s Conservative Party to end social housing for Nigerians, other foreign nationals
The UK Conservative Party, led by Kemi Badenoch, has vowed to end social housing access for foreign nationals including Nigerians, pledging to free up 230,000 homes for British families if returned to power.
Shadow Work and Pensions Secretary Helen Whately made the announcement in a video posted on X on Friday, as reported by Peoples Gazette. “Making Britain your home should be earned by working, paying tax and integrating,” Whately said. “Our welfare system should be a safety net for British citizens — not a cash machine for migrants.”
Badenoch reposted and endorsed the announcement. The pledge comes as approximately 1.3 million people remain on the UK’s social housing waiting list — a backlog housing charities warn could take decades to clear at current construction rates.
