Congolese man bags life sentence for murdering Nigerian in UK
A UK court has sentenced a Congolese man to life imprisonment for the “violent and unprovoked” murder of his Nigerian roommate in Norwich.
According to The Punch, Benjamin Katabana, 28, was jailed with a minimum term of 20 years for murdering Uchenna Okirie, 33, after luring him into a communal corridor with WhatsApp messages before stabbing and kicking him.
Okirie died from a stab wound to the chest. Katabana later surrendered to police, saying, “I have killed someone, I think.”
He had pleaded guilty to manslaughter but was convicted of murder. Judge Bate said Katabana resolves issues through violence.
