‘Mr President has done well’: Adeleke withdraws N2bn EFCC suit, blames Oyetola for account freeze
Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke has directed his attorney-general to withdraw the N2 billion suit filed against the EFCC over the freezing of the state’s statutory allocation account, saying President Bola Tinubu’s personal intervention and phone call made the legal action unnecessary.
Speaking to Channels Television hours after his re-election victory, as repeated by The Cable, Adeleke said: “Mr President has done well. He called me. What more do I want?”
The governor absolved Tinubu of direct knowledge of the account freeze, alleging instead that former Osun Governor Gboyega Oyetola — now Marine Minister and Tinubu’s cousin — was behind the action. “I know that the president didn’t know about the EFCC one. That is why he had to call me and stop it,” he said.
The suit, filed August 5, had sought to nullify the freeze and award exemplary damages against the commission.
