Cameroon make history with first WAFCON title after beating Malawi
Cameroon have won their first Women’s Africa Cup of Nations title after defeating Malawi 3-0 in Sunday’s final in Morocco. According to AllAfrica, citing Radio France Internationale, Marie Ngah Manga scored twice while Naomi Eto added another as Cameroon produced a dominant first-half display.
The victory ended Cameroon’s wait after three previous final defeats, all against Nigeria. Malawi, competing at their first WAFCON, had enjoyed a remarkable run to the final but were overwhelmed by the Indomitable Lionesses. Cameroon also secured $2 million in prize money and qualified for the 2027 FIFA Women’s World Cup alongside Malawi.
