Tinubu orders military chiefs to draft five-year defence plan in 90 days
President Bola Tinubu has directed a nine-man committee of Nigeria’s top military and intelligence chiefs to produce a National Threat Assessment and five-year Strategic Defence Operations Plan within 90 days, according to a Nairametrics report.
Announced at Wednesday’s FEC meeting, the committee, coordinated by Major General Adeyinka Famadewa, includes NSA Nuhu Ribadu, Defence Minister Christopher Musa, and service chiefs. Tinubu said the framework would unify threat assessment and resource planning, citing the recent Oyo abduction rescue as proof of coordinated action’s value. The directive follows Nextier data showing 445 casualties and 256 kidnap victims in two weeks amid rising banditry.
