FBI given 30 days to explain secrecy around Tinubu records
A US court has given the Federal Bureau of Investigation a one-month deadline to explain why records linked to drug-trafficking allegations against President Bola Tinubu should remain secret, Peoples Gazette reports.
Judge Beryl Howell of the US District Court for the District of Columbia set September 18, 2026, as the deadline for the FBI’s final response.
Washington lobbying firm Von Batten-Montague-York, retained by Atiku Abubakar, alleged the FBI’s request to privately review the documents suggests the material is highly sensitive, tied to informant protection in drug-trafficking cases.
