Man faints in court after learning he faces 100 years for child sex crimes

An Arizona hospital worker collapsed in a Phoenix courtroom on Monday after learning he faces up to a century in prison on felony child sexual exploitation charges, according to a report by New York Post.

Joshua James Lozano, 42, was arrested last Thursday following a Glendale police investigation after the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children flagged explicit content linked to his internet service provider. Authorities traced an account, phone number and IP address to him.

During Monday’s hearing, Maricopa County prosecutor Ashley Stetson requested $150,000 bail, noting Lozano faced 10 consecutive felony counts, each carrying a potential 10-year sentence. Upon hearing this, Lozano collapsed, prompting medical personnel to intervene before he was returned to police custody.

His attorney, Michael Tamou, asked the court to lower bail to $50,000 citing Lozano’s local ties, but the judge set bond at $150,000. If released, Lozano is barred from contacting minors or accessing the internet and must wear an electronic monitor. He returns to court on September 21.
