‘He was unbelievable’: Arteta reacts as Max Dowman makes history for Arsenal

Share:

Mikel Arteta has hailed Max Dowman as “unbelievable” after the 16-year-old Arsenal wonderkid scored twice in the Gunners’ 4-2 Carabao Cup victory over Ipswich Town on Tuesday. According to Goal.com, Dowman opened the scoring after just seven minutes with a superb solo effort before doubling Arsenal’s advantage shortly after half-time.

His brace saw him become only the second 16-year-old to score twice in a match for a Premier League side across all competitions, matching Wayne Rooney’s 2002 achievement for Everton against Wrexham.

Noni Madueke and Mikel Merino also scored as Arsenal maintained their perfect start to the season. Arteta praised Dowman’s efficiency, development and ability to produce exciting moments, while Merino urged the teenager to keep learning from the club’s experienced players.
