‘I think it is unfair’ — De Zerbi reacts to Tottenham’s 3-1 Liverpool loss
Roberto De Zerbi described Tottenham Hotspur’s 3-1 Carabao Cup defeat to Liverpool as “unfair” despite admitting his side must improve in several areas. According to Liverpool Echo, Tottenham produced 17 shots at Anfield but could only find the net through Conor Gallagher, while Alexis Mac Allister, Cody Gakpo and Dominik Szoboszlai secured Liverpool’s progress.
De Zerbi criticised Tottenham’s finishing and defensive work, particularly for the goals they conceded. The Italian also pointed to what he described as a series of unlucky results during the opening weeks of his tenure.
Tottenham have endured a difficult start, remaining without a Premier League goal and recording just one victory this season, against Charlton Athletic in the previous Carabao Cup round. De Zerbi urged his players to respond strongly.
