Mourinho responded by sending Carlos Espi and Endrick forward alongside several attacking players, leaving his side exposed at the back. The gamble paid off when Espi scored the winning goal in the 91st minute after Mbappe and Jude Bellingham combined to create the opportunity.

Mourinho acknowledged that the approach could have backfired but insisted a draw was not enough. The victory keeps Madrid level on points with Barcelona at the top of La Liga.
