Travis Kelce named victim in $35 million ponzi scheme

Kansas City Chiefs star Travis Kelce has been identified as one of 64 victims of a Ponzi scheme that took more than $35 million from investors.

According to the New York Post, prosecutors named Kelce during Tuesday’s sentencing of Siddharth Jawahar, 38, founder of Texas-based investment company Swiftarc Capital LLC. Jawahar was sentenced to 11 years in federal prison and ordered to pay $31.35 million in restitution.

Prosecutors said Jawahar collected more than $35 million from investors between July 2016 and December 2023 but invested only about $10 million. He allegedly used new investors’ money to repay earlier clients and fund an extravagant lifestyle involving private jets, luxury apartments and expensive outings.

Jawahar pleaded guilty in January to three counts of wire fraud. Prosecutors did not disclose how much Kelce invested or lost. A 2021 Forbes report previously identified Kelce among professional athletes who had reportedly invested with Jawahar’s firm.
