Trump blocks CNN, Politico, MS NOW from White House

US President Donald Trump has announced a ban on CNN, MS NOW and Politico from the White House, accusing the organisations of reporting false stories about his administration.

According to Premium Times, Trump announced the decision on Truth Social on Friday but did not identify specific reports he considered false or explain how the ban would be enforced.

CNN and Politico criticised the move, arguing that restricting access because of coverage raises First Amendment concerns. CNN said it would defend its journalists publicly.

Journalists from the organisations were still working at the White House after Trump’s announcement.

Trump warned that other media could face restrictions and accused Politico of receiving a government subscription under the Biden administration, which Politico denied.
