FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup: Nigeria take on Colombia in quarter-final tie

Nigeria’s Falconets will face Colombia on Sunday in the quarter-finals of the 2026 FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup in Poland, with a place in the last four at stake.

Nigeria reached the quarter-finals after an impressive 3-0 victory over England in the Round of 16. Tosin Rafiu opened the scoring before Seimeyeha Janet Akekoromowei and Mary Mamudu completed the win, while goalkeeper Christiana Uzoma produced several important saves, including stopping a penalty.

According to FIFA, Nigeria are appearing in their ninth U-20 Women’s World Cup quarter-final, level with the United States and behind only Germany, who have reached 10.

Colombia advanced after edging hosts Poland 1-0, scoring through a late own goal to continue their tournament run.

Nigeria coach Moses Aduku has urged his players to forget the England victory and concentrate on Colombia.

The Falconets are seeking their first semi-final appearance since 2014 and remain in pursuit of a maiden title, having twice finished as runners-up.
