Plateau bloodbath: Pastor ambushed on way to church as gunmen kill 10

Fresh violence rocks Plateau as 10 killed overnight, church services disrupted

A Baptist Church pastor and nine other people were killed by gunmen in separate attacks across communities in Barakin-Ladi Local Government Area of Plateau State between Saturday night and early Sunday morning, according to a report by Tribune Online.

Six passengers travelling to Gana-Ropp to work on a farm were killed when suspected assailants attacked their vehicle on Saturday evening, a witness said. In the early hours of Sunday, a pastor, his secretary and one other person were ambushed and shot dead on their way to church at Dorowa Babuje, disrupting services in neighbouring communities as residents stayed away over fear of further attacks.

Separately, a woman was reportedly killed at Beaten Wereng in Riyom LGA, while another person died at Ratyidiin Fan District. Berom Youth Moulders spokesman Rwang Tengwong condemned the killings and urged security agencies to strengthen their presence and prosecute those responsible. Tension persisted in parts of Barakin-Ladi as residents fled following renewed gunshots near Kantoma. Police spokesperson SP Alfred Alabo could not be reached for comment.
