CIA ‘psychic’ claimed giant beings once lived on Mars; files reveal

A declassified CIA document has resurfaced detailing an unusual experiment in which a purported psychic claimed to observe an ancient civilization on Mars.

According to the Daily Mail, the experiment was conducted in May 1984 as part of US intelligence research into “remote viewing,” the claimed ability to perceive distant locations using the mind.

During the session, the participant was reportedly given geographical coordinates without initially being told they referred to Mars and was instructed to describe what he perceived at different locations.

The remote viewer described pyramid-like structures, enormous beings, deep chambers and what appeared to be remnants of an ancient society struggling to survive an environmental catastrophe.

He also claimed to see inhabitants waiting for others who had travelled elsewhere in search of a new place to live.

The document, known as “Mars Exploration, May 22, 1984,” was later declassified and became publicly available through the CIA’s archives.

The experiment formed part of broader US government investigations into alleged paranormal intelligence-gathering capabilities, research commonly associated with the Stargate Project.

However, the document does not provide scientific evidence that an ancient Martian civilization existed. It records what the remote viewer reported during the session rather than independently verified observations.

The US government eventually discontinued its remote-viewing programme after evaluations questioned its reliability and usefulness for intelligence operations. The extraordinary Mars account nevertheless continues to attract attention because it remains preserved among declassified US intelligence records.
