Granit Xhaka breaks silence on fraud investigation after Sunderland defeat

Sunderland captain Granit Xhaka has insisted he is unfazed by an ongoing investigation in Switzerland into an alleged forged Covid-19 vaccination certificate. According to Sports Witness, the 33-year-old midfielder addressed the issue after playing the full 90 minutes in Sunderland’s 5-3 Premier League defeat to Manchester City on Sunday.

Asked about the investigation, Xhaka told Swiss newspaper NZZ that he was focused on football, adding: “There’s no comment on that. I played football today. And that’s what matters to me right now.” When pressed on whether the case had affected him, he replied: “Not at all, I’ve had worse things happen.”
