El-Rufai’s trial: Court fixes October 26 for no-case ruling

The Federal High Court in Abuja has fixed October 26 to rule on a no-case submission filed by former Kaduna Governor Nasir El-Rufai in his trial over the alleged unlawful interception of National Security Adviser Nuhu Ribadu’s communications.

According to Nigerian Tribune, Justice Joyce Abdulmalik reserved the ruling after prosecution and defence lawyers adopted their arguments.

El-Rufai’s counsel urged the court to uphold the submission and discharge him, while prosecuting counsel Oluwole Aladedoye, SAN, asked the court to reject it and order El-Rufai to open his defence.

The Department of State Services arraigned El-Rufai on behalf of the federal government on a five-count charge relating to alleged unlawful interception and access to classified information.

El-Rufai has denied all the allegations.
