Nigerian creators must make content that solves problems — NFVCB

The National Film and Video Censors Board has urged Nigeria’s creative industry to produce content that solves problems while ensuring creators receive fair compensation for their work.

According to SaharaReporters, NFVCB Executive Director Shaibu Husseini made the call during the launch of digital platform Bebuzee in Lagos.

Husseini said emerging platforms should address challenges surrounding monetisation and opportunities for Nigerian creators while respecting intellectual property, protecting audiences and complying with relevant laws.

He said Nigeria’s entertainment industry had evolved from celluloid to streaming and would increasingly embrace artificial intelligence and immersive technologies.

Bebuzee CEO Joseph Onyero said the platform would pay creators 75 per cent of generated revenue while retaining 25 per cent.

He added that creators would receive payments in US dollars.
