Andy Robertson reveals Diogo Jota’s death affected Liverpool’s £241m signings

Andy Robertson has revealed how Diogo Jota’s death affected Liverpool’s squad and contributed to Alexander Isak and Florian Wirtz struggling to settle at the club. Speaking on The Overlap, Robertson said the players were grieving following Jota’s death in a car crash in July 2025 and had “lost the edge” on the pitch.

According to Daily Mail, Robertson said Liverpool “didn’t care about football” for months because they had lost a close friend and team-mate. Isak and Wirtz had joined Liverpool for a combined £241million that summer. Robertson said the tragedy affected the entire squad and contributed to their difficult campaign.
