Ex-Fulham boss Marco Silva threatens to quit Benfica after referee fury

Marco Silva has hinted he could leave Benfica just three months after becoming manager following his side’s 3-1 defeat by Porto. According to talkSPORT, the former Fulham boss criticised refereeing standards in Portugal after defender Clement Lenglet was sent off during Sunday’s clash.

Silva said he was unsure whether he could continue until the end of the season, claiming he came from a “different culture” after years working in England. His comments were criticised by Porto president Andre Villas-Boas, who defended the officials and pointed to his club’s seven league wins. Silva has managed only seven league matches since taking charge of Benfica.
