Mining tragedy: Four die in Plateau pit collapse

Four miners have died after a mining pit collapsed in Baban Rafi, Bokkos Local Government Area of Plateau State.

According to P.M. News, the incident occurred on Tuesday while the victims were mining tin inside the pit.

Bokkos Youth Leader Daniel Tula confirmed that the victims, comprising two men and two women, became trapped when the pit caved in. Their relatives later recovered and buried their bodies.

Tula said the incident was the first of its kind recorded in the area, raising concerns about mining safety.

wHowever, Plateau State Police spokesperson Alfred Alabo said the command had not received an official report, adding that miners often fail to report such incidents to authorities promptly.
