Wayne Rooney threatens legal action against Andy Carroll over book claims

Wayne Rooney has reportedly threatened legal action against former England teammate Andy Carroll over claims made in Carroll’s new autobiography. According to Give Me Sport, Rooney is unhappy with allegations that he invited England players to his hotel room for drinks and cigarettes while on international duty around 2010 and 2011.

Rooney has previously rejected the story, describing it as fabricated and insisting he and Carroll never socialised during their time with England. A reported legal letter has now been sent to the book’s publisher demanding a retraction. Carroll made nine England appearances and scored twice during his international career, while Rooney remains one of England’s leading all-time goalscorers.
