CNN on edge as Paramount eyes Musk investment
Paramount is considering bringing Elon Musk on as an equity investor in its planned takeover of Warner Bros. Discovery as it works to secure financing for the deal.
According to ZeroHedge, citing Semafor, Paramount chief David Ellison is assessing potential investors ahead of the merger’s completion. The amount Musk could invest remains unclear.
The report said some CNN employees expressed concern about Musk’s potential involvement, citing his restructuring of X after acquiring Twitter in 2022.
CNN is owned by Warner Bros. Discovery and would fall under Ellison’s control following the merger.
Larry Ellison, David Ellison’s father and Oracle founder, has reportedly guaranteed more than $40 billion in equity financing for the acquisition.
Paramount and Musk have not publicly confirmed any investment agreement.
