FBI discloses search for ‘Bola’, ‘Tinubu’ in multi-subject records connected to Nigerian president

The Federal Bureau of Investigation has disclosed that it searched a multi-subject file for the terms “Bola” and “Tinubu” separately while processing a Freedom of Information Act request involving Nigerian President Bola Tinubu.

According to SaharaReporters, the disclosure was contained in a September 23 court filing by the FBI and Drug Enforcement Administration in Aaron Greenspan’s FOIA lawsuit before federal court in the United States case.

The FBI said it conducted a term search and manual page-by-page review to locate responsive records.

However, the filing did not disclose whether they produced new information concerning Tinubu.

The agencies maintained that their searches were adequate and defended withholding portions of responsive records under FOIA exemptions, including protections for grand-jury and investigative information.
