JAMB sets October 31 deadline for public universities to complete admissions

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board has insisted that public universities must conclude admissions for the 2026/2027 academic session by October 31.

According to TheCable, JAMB said the deadline, agreed by stakeholders at the 2026 Policy Meeting on Admissions, remains unchanged.

Private universities have until November 30, while other tertiary institutions must complete admissions by December 31.

“Consequently, all admissions for the 2026/2027 academic session are expected to be concluded by 31 December 2026,” JAMB said.

The board also announced that its Central Admissions Processing System, CAPS, is fully operational after being unavailable for about 96 hours because of an administrative challenge involving its hosting organisation.

“With CAPS now fully operational, institutions are expected to intensify their admission processes, while candidates are equally advised to promptly accept admission offers made to them,” JAMB said.

Candidates awaiting NECO results were also advised to immediately upload or verify their results to ensure their credentials are available for admission consideration by institutions nationwide.
