The Michael and Cecilia Ibru University (MCIU) has removed all references to its pro-chancellor, Anthony Kila, from its website following an investigation that exposed him as a fake professor.

Premium Times reports that a review of the website around 7 p.m. on Monday showed Kila’s name, profile and photographs had been deleted. He has been pro-chancellor since August 2025.

The university has yet to comment publicly. Vice-Chancellor Ibiyinka Fuwape said the council would meet before making a statement.

“We will reply to you very soon. The PRO will get in touch with you. The council is yet to meet. I can’t give you any information other than that,” she said.

The investigation found Kila was never awarded the rank he has claimed for over a decade. He said a UK-based institution awarded it in 2016, but no evidence that it exists was found.

Kila said the report reflected “an incomplete understanding of the nature, origin and institutional basis” of his professorship, and that he has instructed his lawyers.
