Trump blames mass migration for France school protests
US President Donald Trump has blamed what he described as “out of control mass migration” for unrest surrounding school protests in France, claiming the demonstrations were linked to Islam’s alleged desire to “take over” the country.
According to SaharaReporters, Trump made the remarks in a Truth Social post on Tuesday as students, parents and trade unions staged protests and school blockades across more than 30 French cities.
“What’s happening in France is nothing less than out of control mass migration. This isn’t about schools, this is about Islam wanting to take over a great country!” Trump wrote.
The protests, however, have focused on demands for increased education funding, more teachers and improved school facilities.
The Union Syndicale Lycéenne said about 1,800 high schools had been blockaded or closed, while protesters demanded 150,000 additional higher education places, €10 billion in emergency funding and more teachers.
The unrest has also led to clashes with police, with thousands arrested and several students injured.
French authorities said hundreds of schools were closed amid security concerns, while officials pledged measures to address education challenges.
