Former Cross River State Governor and Peoples Redemption Party (PRP) presidential candidate Donald Duke has stated that he would target a petrol price of about N300 per litre if elected president in 2027.

Speaking during an interview on Channels Television’s Morning Brief, according to Tribune.

, Duke criticized President Bola Tinubu’s economic policies, arguing that petroleum products for domestic consumption should be priced based on production costs rather than international market rates.

“The subsidy regime thing—this whole thing is a scam. I’m going to price petroleum products for local consumption at production costs, not at international market costs,” Duke said.

Putting the cost of refining at about $45 per barrel, he noted that selling fuel at international rates places severe pressure on low-income earners whose earnings cannot keep pace with rising transport costs.

Asked about a realistic price under his administration, Duke maintained, “I will try and bring it to about 300 naira. I’ve told you that it sounds so outlandish, but I’ve given you the arithmetic.”
