Man City identify ‘core argument’ in bid to overturn Premier League verdict
Manchester City are reportedly hoping to overturn a crucial part of their Premier League financial verdict by challenging the commission’s findings over the source of sponsorship funding. An independent commission found City guilty of serious financial-rule breaches between 2009/10 and 2017/18, including the use of arrangements it described as “sham” contracts.
According to FourFourTwo, City believe they can succeed without overturning every finding. Their appeal reportedly centres on arguing that sponsorship money came from the Abu Dhabi government rather than the club’s owners. City lodged their appeal on October 1 and continue to insist they have “irrefutable” evidence supporting their position.
