Trump says he had the chance to do “very bad things” to Obama, Biden, Clinton
US President Donald Trump has said he could have done “very bad things” to former Presidents Barack Obama and Joe Biden and former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, but chose not to because he believed the office of the presidency should be treated with respect.
Trump made the remarks in response to a question about what Democrats could impeach him for if they regain control of Congress.
“I could have done very bad things to Hillary Clinton. I could have done very very bad things to Joe Biden. I could have done very bad things to Barack Hussein Obama. I thought it was inappropriate to do so so because you have to treat the office of the presidency with respect,” Trump said.
He continued, “I’ve had my shot and still do at Biden, at Hillary Clinton, and Barack Hussein Obama, and I’ve had plenty of people say, ‘Let’s go get him,’ and I said, ‘No, you can’t do that to the presidents.'”
Trump then added: “I can do whatever I want, if I want,” referring to his authority as president.
The remarks come as Trump’s administration and Justice Department have pursued investigations and legal actions involving some of his political opponents.
Trump has repeatedly attacked Obama, Biden and Clinton, who have all been prominent targets of his political rhetoric.
In 2025, Trump accused Obama of treason and alleged that the former president had sought to undermine his political standing. Trump also claimed that Obama was involved in rigging the 2016 and 2020 presidential elections.
Obama was president from 2009 to 2017, while Biden served from 2021 to 2025. Clinton served as US secretary of state from 2009 to 2013 and was the Democratic presidential nominee in 2016.
