2027: Makinde Pledges Single Four-Year Term If Elected President

Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde, presidential candidate of the Allied Peoples Movement (APM), has promised to serve only one four-year term if elected in 2027. Naija News reports that he made the pledge on Saturday at a party town hall in Yola, Adamawa State. He said his government would be all-inclusive and would tackle insecurity and poverty.


Obi’s Camp Asks APC To Account For Promised Relief

Peter Obi’s media office has asked the APC presidential campaign council to account for the relief Nigerians were promised on the economy, security and cost of living. In a Saturday statement, spokesperson Idris Zekeri responded to APC’s Dele Alake, who criticised Obi’s 2023 victory claim. Zekeri urged Alake to focus on President Bola Tinubu’s performance.


Makinde To Nigerians: Judge Tinubu On Electricity Promise

Seyi Makinde has urged Nigerians to judge President Bola Tinubu by his promises, particularly on electricity. Speaking at the APM North-East town hall in Yola on Saturday, he said Tinubu had pledged to fix power within four years and voters should weigh that outcome. Bauchi Governor Bala Mohammed also backed the party.


INEC Drops Pantami From Gombe Governorship Final List

INEC has removed former Communications Minister Isa Ali Pantami from the final list of candidates for Gombe State’s February 6, 2027 governorship election. Naija News reports that his name was on the August 29 provisional list. The final list has 16 candidates, including Jamilu Gwamna (APC), Bala Tinka (ADC) and Babayo Kumo (NDC).


INEC Clears Wike’s Ally Chinda For Rivers Governorship

INEC has cleared Kingsley Chinda, ally of FCT Minister Nyesom Wike, for Rivers State’s 2027 governorship election. The former House minority leader, once a PDP member, is the APC candidate. His name was fifth on the list released Saturday, after the Supreme Court restored Electoral Act 2026 provisions barring candidates missing from membership registers.


NDC Sets October 20 To Inaugurate Obi-Kwankwaso Campaign Council

The Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) will inaugurate its presidential campaign council on October 20, national chairman Cleopas Zuwoghe announced Saturday in Abuja. He said the party is consulting Peter Obi and running mate Rabiu Kwankwaso to finalise appointments. A National Executive Committee meeting that day will also issue certificates of return to candidates.
