Obi says he’ll visit 36 states annually, spend holidays across six geopolitical zones if elected
Nigeria Democratic Congress presidential candidate Peter Obi has pledged to hold regular town hall meetings with Nigerians and visit every state annually if elected president.
According to SaharaReporters, Obi made the pledge during a TikTok livestream on Sunday while discussing national unity, regional development and citizen engagement.
“I want to see a thriving South-West, South-South, South-East, North-East, North-West, North-Central, everyone in Nigeria,” he said.
Obi said his administration would seek to ensure that Nigerians across all regions felt represented and included in governance.
“That’s why I said that I will be president of Nigeria. I will ensure that I visit every state annually,” he said.
He also promised regular town hall meetings to explain government policies and decisions.
“I will be available to them as their president. I will explain to them, because I’m sure I’ll be able to do monthly, bi-monthly town hall meetings to explain what we are doing, to explain why we must do A or B, as I did while I was governor,” Obi said.
He cited his tenure as Anambra State governor as the basis for the proposed engagement approach.
