Fraud, drug offences: US lists 157 Nigerians for deportation
At least 157 Nigerians have been listed among foreign nationals targeted under the United States’ “Worst of the Worst” immigration enforcement campaign.
According to Peoples Gazette, 24 Nigerians were recently added to the list maintained by the US Department of Homeland Security, bringing the reported total to 157.
The offences listed include wire fraud, money laundering, drug-related crimes, identity theft, assault and weapons violations.
The Department of Homeland Security said its officials and Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents “Are fulfilling President Trump’s promise and carrying out mass deportations – starting with the worst of the worst – including the illegal aliens you see here.”
Among the latest names are Emmanuel Omowaiye, Laurene Onwuka, Olusegun Shonekan, Peter Ude, Newton Jemide and Michael Orji.
Some listed individuals face charges rather than established convictions, and case outcomes vary.
Those subject to removal proceedings could be deported after completing applicable sentences or other legal processes in the United States.
