Ex-Imo Governor Okorocha arrested over alleged forgery, impersonation
Former Imo State Governor and ex-Senator for Imo West, Rochas Okorocha, has been arrested over alleged criminal conspiracy, forgery and impersonation.
SaharaReporters learnt that Nigeria Police Force operatives took him into custody on Monday night, October 12, at the REIZ Continental Hotel, Abuja.
Security sources said the arrest followed his alleged refusal to honour repeated invitations for questioning at the Force Headquarters. They added that police obtained a court-issued bench warrant to compel his appearance.
“An initial invitation for questioning was slated for September 2, 2026. However, at the request of his legal team, the appointment was rescheduled to September 8, 2026,” the source said.
Despite the extension, “the former governor failed to show up on the agreed date, prompting law enforcement agencies to track him down and execute the judicial order,” the source said.
Okorocha remained in police custody at the time of filing the report. Efforts to reach his media office were unsuccessful.
