Tresoldi hat-trick stuns Inter Milan as Club Brugge claim 4-3 Champions League victory
Club Brugge stunned Inter Milan 4-3 at the San Siro on Tuesday, with Nicolo Tresoldi scoring a hat-trick to hand the Italian champions their second consecutive defeat in the UEFA Champions League league phase. According to France 24, the 22-year-old forward scored all three of Brugge’s opening goals to inspire the Belgian side to a remarkable victory.
Tresoldi opened the scoring from the penalty spot before capitalising on a goalkeeping error after the hour mark. He completed his hat-trick 15 minutes from time, exploiting further defensive uncertainty from Inter. Lautaro Martinez scored either side of Tresoldi’s second and third goals, giving the hosts hope after assisting in the first-half response initiated by Marcus Thuram and Federico Dimarco.
However, Romeo Vernant struck in the 87th minute to restore Brugge’s two-goal advantage. Ange-Yoan Bonny scored in stoppage time, but Inter could not complete their comeback. The defeat leaves Inter without a point after two European matches, increasing pressure ahead of their next fixture against Shakhtar Donetsk. Brugge will host Lens.
