Barcola scores hat-trick as Liverpool thrash LASK 6-3 in Champions League
Bradley Barcola scored a hat-trick as Liverpool secured a 6-3 victory over LASK in the UEFA Champions League on Wednesday, October 14, maintaining their perfect start to the league phase. According to a match report published on Liverpool FC’s official website, the Reds delivered a dominant attacking performance at the Raiffeisen Arena, scoring three goals in the first half before adding three more after the break.
Ronald Araujo opened the scoring midway through the first half with a downward header from Kostas Tsimikas’ corner, registering his first goal for Liverpool. Barcola doubled the visitors’ advantage two minutes later, finishing from close range after Lewis Koumas capitalised on Rio Ngumoha’s attacking work to set up the French forward.
The winger struck again in the 38th minute, combining effectively with Florian Wirtz before finishing from close range to give Liverpool a comfortable 3-0 lead at half-time. Liverpool continued their momentum after the restart, with Jeremie Frimpong making it 4-0 in the 51st minute after meeting Tsimikas’ cross with a header.
LASK briefly responded through Robert Ljubicic, but Barcola completed his hat-trick soon afterwards by converting Frimpong’s low delivery. Koumas then scored his first Champions League goal to put Liverpool 6-1 ahead, before Florian Flecker’s late brace reduced the margin in an entertaining encounter. The victory gives Liverpool six points from their opening two league-phase matches. Andoni Iraola’s side will return to Anfield next Tuesday to face Villarreal, aiming to extend their winning start to the competition.
