Hasselbaink demands Man Utd drop Lisandro Martínez following explosive hierarchy rant
Manchester United have been urged to suspend defender Lisandro Martínez following his public criticism of the club’s board after their Champions League defeat to Atlético Madrid, according to a report by the Daily Mirror.
Martínez voiced frustration over the squad’s lack of defensive recruitment during the summer, explicitly referencing technical director Jason Wilcox and calling for higher investment to match competing clubs.
Former Premier League striker Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink told Sky Sports that while Martínez raised valid points, taking such grievances public warrants an immediate spell on the sidelines, casting doubt on the Argentine’s availability for Sunday’s fixture against Leeds United.
Martínez subsequently issued a statement on Instagram clarifying his comments, attributing his outburst to post-match anger while reiterating his commitment to helping United compete for major honors.
